WKS Q1 2017 Update!
Greetings, Stranger Nation!
As we close out the first quarter of 2017, W·KS has exciting projects on the horizon...
We must start, however, with the CD release party at Route 20 Outhouse on January 21, 2017. What a party! We had Jay Matthes and Sunspot open the festivities. It was an amazing night as we introduced Aligned, our full length LP (Spotify Link), just as we launched our album nationwide. Our single "Splinter" is still being spun on radio stations throughout the USA and our video on YouTube has exceeded 5700 views; a nice milestone for the band. We really appreciate our amazing fan support!
Also in January, we started a monthly project called "Strangers Spin.” We are choosing some of our favorite artists, and even songs from film, to cover in our own unique way, shooting a quick video and posting it to YouTube. Our first video is the song “Audition” from the Oscar winning movie, "La La Land”. Our second project is a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls “Boxes” just released at the end of February. Our latest video took place March 4th at Star Roller Rink as we cover Abba's "Dancing Queen." Yes; we were all on skates and tried to look the part! Lou Perez from Professional Level Productions was along and video all the action (and falling) as W·KS and fans skated to their hearts content. Keep your eyes open for what April will bring and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel where you can see all of our videos!
One of our most beloved projects is the production of the video for "Voices," (Spotify Link) a single we released back in January 2016. The song was inspired by a benefit concert we were honored to be a part of to raise awareness to the terrible reality that is human trafficking. Lou Perez and his team, in conjunction with other agencies in and around Racine, will be shooting the video for us. The release is set for June 10th, paralleling with a benefit concert hosted by the Fight to End Exploitation (formally known as Racine Coalition Against Human Trafficking). The outreach on this is nationwide, and is targeted to raise awareness of the epidemic that is robbing our children from their childhood. Stay tuned...
Friday, March 24th takes us to Madison, WI at the The Brink Lounge with a start time of 8:30pm. We come back home Saturday, March 25th to play at the legendary Brat Stop for SRIM Fest. Our show is scheduled for 9:30pm on the Music Center Main Stage. We're headed up north again for another appearance at the Barron Area Community Center on Saturday, May 13th. We'll make our debut appearance headlining Shank Hall on Friday, May 26th with Listening Party and a W·KS favorite (once again) Jay Matthes. In addition, we'll be announcing many more shows in the near future (TONS in the works!)
Be sure to check out our new website! There you will find much of what we are doing, see pictures, get important links, and (very important!) we have a new tab where you can get all the greatest W·KS swag you could ever want (and if there’s something you don’t see… let us know!)! Spread the word and show your pride!!
